Mother of evening workshop student

My son has been going to the workshop for just over a year now on a Wednesday evening and really looks forward to it every week. He loves the relaxed, fun atmosphere where he is encouraged to follow his interests and produce a variety of work of excellent quality. Pam and Gavin are both patient and kind and stretch his ability at the same time as letting him work at his own pace. He enjoys the fact that it is a mixed age range and learns a lot from fellow students. We feel very lucky to have such an excellent opportunity right on our doorstep. Harriet

I took two workshops at the Nailsworth Community Workshop in 2010 Bow making with Gavin was fun, interesting, and for a complete novice to woodworking like myself I was amazed to come away with a fantastic flatbow by Sunday eve. I also did a leather working weekend and have taken up leather working myself since and am now selling my handmade quivers, so now have Jeannie Ireland to thank for giving me a new skill. The Centre is doing a great job in the community teaching skills, and crafts to all ages and backgrounds. Many thanks to all the team running the centre.

My son (Raphael, 9) is always very enthusiastic about the woodwork class. He looks forward to Fridays and is very proud of both the skills he has learnt and the things he has made.

Weekend workshop student

It was a wonderful weekend: with only three students we had complete freedom to design and make a personalised quiver. I had expected many more constraints on what was possible, but Gavin helped us with literally anything we could come up with. I learned a lot about general leather working skills, although I have yet to have the opportunity to put them into practice on other items. The workshop and facilities were very good, and I'd be happy to do another weekend course there. Sara

Weekend workshop student

I must say, I echo Sara in her praise of the skill, knowledge and patience of our tutor on the quiver making course. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Friendly banter, but not so much as to detract from the course. I was especially enamoured of the location – took me back to a time where I loved nothing more than messing about in a shed with tools and stuff! I have had more than a few comments about the quiver I made, the design and the workmanship couldn't have happened without the excellent instruction we received. Thank you all so much.

Weekend bow maker and evening workshop student

I enjoy learning new skills in the workshop. The variety of ages of the participants, and the range of projects being undertaken leads to a vibrant atmosphere, which I find interesting and refreshing. It's a great antidote to computers and office-work!

Fantastic tutor and wonderful quality of teaching and content. Great camaraderie. Overall I would find it very difficult to improve this course.

Just to say thanks so much for the wonderful classes my girls are attending with you and your team at Nailsworth on Fridays. My daughter's lyre was so beautiful, what a fantastic opportunity.
