Practical Intelligence provides affordable craft courses in wood, silver and guitar making open to the whole community.
The aim in all groups is to promote confidence and self-belief whilst developing practical skills. The groups are small and are taught by skilled, professional craftsmen in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. We run weekly courses in wood and silver for home educated students, have open teaching sessions on a Monday and an afternoon of guitar making. On a Tuesday afternoon we have a Mens Shed where men and women of all ages and abilities are welcome. We also run weekend courses making English longbows, kitchen and craft knives, Stained Glass panels and Automita.
Pi Guitars builds guitars from recycled wood with a team of volunteers and meets twice a week. The guitars are sponsored and donated to youth groups or groups for those struggling with their mental health. Our production workshop makes items to sell with anyone out of work looking for meaningful activity. Products are sold in local shops and Craft Fairs thus completing the sense of value for the participants
We are a not-for-profit company and are based in the Nailsworth Subscription Rooms.
